Bionote: Francesca Scaccia is currently a second year PhD student in Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Her doctoral work explores the literary influence of Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn on Toni Morrison’s Beloved, with a particular focus on the themes of outsiderism and the ‘quest for self-identity’. Her main research interests are race and ethnicity in the United States, African American literature, and late Nineteenth- and Twentieth-Century American literature. She holds an M.A. in European and American Languages and Literatures (with honors) and a B.A. in Modern Languages and Literatures.
