01/04/19 – research grant “Sisters in crime” about women/crime fiction

What, when & where

Sisters in Crime will award researchers grants of up to $500 for the purchase of books to support research projects that contribute to our understanding of the role of women or underrepresented groups in the crime fiction genre. This may include but is not limited to research on women mystery writers, on the position of women writers in the crime fiction marketplace, or on gender, race, or ethnicity as an aspect of crime fiction.

Grant recipients must provide copies of receipts of purchases and provide a summary of research progress that will be shared publicly and non-exclusively through the organization’s website. Grant proposals must be received by April 1, 2019. The recipient will be notified by June 1, 2019. Books must be purchased and itemized receipts provided by December 1, 2019, along with a progress report (250-500 words) on the research project.

Application Deadline is APRIL 1st. To apply, please send your CV and the following information to Barbara Fister. You should receive confirmation that your application was received within a week. Applications will be reviewed by a committee of scholars familiar with scholarship on the genre.

Sisters in Crime is a non-profit organization founded in 1986 that promotes the ongoing advancement, recognition and professional development of women crime writers and aspires to serve as the voice for excellence and diversity in crime writing.

While projects may include analysis of film, the emphasis should be on written fiction.
These grants are intended to support non-fiction critique and analysis rather than research for fiction projects.
In keeping with the requirements of our funding source, grant recipients must either be US citizens/legal residents of the United States or must be conducting research on US authors.
Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received an academic research grant from Sisters in Crime.

Presentation proposals on any aspect of Louisiana narratives, as well as creative texts and performances by, about, and/or for Louisiana and Louisianans, are sought for this year’s conference.

What: Il Premio di laurea «Paolo Zanotti» è patrocinato dall’Associazione per gli Studi di Teoria e Storia comparata della Letteratura (Compalit) e ha lo scopo di ricordare e promuovere l’opera di Paolo Zanotti, scrittore, ricercatore e critico letterario, scomparso prematuramente nel 2012. Viene conferito annualmente a una tesi di laurea magistrale (o equiparata) in studi letterari in uno dei seguenti ambiti: letteratura giovanile (fiaba, racconto d’avventure, romanzo di formazione); identità di genere nell’immaginario letterario; narrativa nell’età della globalizzazione.
