The fellowship is funded through a partnership between the university’s Mahindra Humanities Center and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

The purpose of the fellowship is to encourage the employment of humanities-related disciplines to analyze, pay witness to, document and spread awareness of pressing socioeconomic issues of our time. Specifically, the fellowship seeks to further the connections between humanities-related disciplines and the study of migration.

Individuals whose work involves textual, visual, digital, political, ethical, ecological modes and other humanities-related modes of representation and interpretation and a focus on migration are invited to apply for the fellowship. The position lasts for one year. Fellows are expected to conduct and participate in bi-weekly seminars at the university while continuing their own academic research in their areas of specialization. Other participants in the seminars will include Harvard faculty, Harvard graduate students, graduate students from other universities and guest speakers.

The Mahindra Humanities Center Postdoctoral Fellowship includes a $65,000 stipend. Fellows will also receive medical insurance and a $2,500 research support payment.
