During the week of the conference, the students are given the opportunity to present their research and approaches regarding their dissertations, which tend to be focused on American culture, economics, geography, history, literature, politics, and religion. The student also get to work with distinguished scholars from Heidelberg and the U.S. and have to opportunity of touring the John Deere Factory in Mannheim, whose generous support has enhanced the Spring Academy over many years. It is especially the diversity of disciplines that brings together students from different academic as well as geographical backgrounds to become part of a unique intellectual network of young and ambitious researchers, which has been growing since the academy’s first gathering in 2004.
