Gothic Melville (Edited Collection)

Chapter proposals are solicited for an edited collection of scholarly essays seeking to elaborate Melville’s affinities with the literary Gothic. All approaches are welcome to the Gothic in Melville’s prose and poetry. Topics may include (but are not limited to):

Connections with American Gothic writers
Maritime Gothic
Colonialist Gothic
Capitalist Gothic
Gothic and race
Marital Gothic / Gothic & gender
Urban Gothic
Legal Gothic
Eco-Gothic
Religion and the Gothic
Melville’s Gothic and the Anthropocene
Deadline & how to apply
300-word proposals and abbreviated CVs listing academic affiliation and publications should be sent to the editors by November 15th, 2019. Essays of approximately 6000 words will be due April 1st, 2020.
