31/05/2019 – Call for Contributions: The Prolonged Death of the Hippie, 1967-1969

Call for Contributions

The conference welcomes scholarly and artistic contributions (such as poetry readings, dance or music performances). Contributions should be twenty minutes in length, followed by approximately ten minutes of Q&A. Please indicate if your proposed contribution is shorter or longer.

Interested in presenting something? Please submit an abstract of 200–300 words and a biography of 100–200 words by 31 May 2019 to the conference organizer Christian Hänggi, dead-hippie@unibas.ch 

01/11/2019 – CFP: Design Intervention

American Art, the peer-reviewed journal co-published by the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the University of Chicago Press, seeks papers that answer the question, “What is the place of design in American art history?” In an effort to explore this topic, the journal plans to publish several short, scholarly essays that demonstrate how the history of design can contribute to art history. Our conception of design encompasses objects, places, environments, experiences, systems, and sites shaped by culture. 10/05/2019 – Call for Proposals: 25th AISNA Biennial Conference in Ragusa

This 2019 marks the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), the universal genius, the twofold engineer of defense walls against the enemy as much as swing-bridges for overtaking them; of impenetrable dams for stopping natural waterways as much as artificial water-channels for the penetration of commerce and the mixing of peoples and cultures; of barricades for puzzling the enemy on the ground as much as flying machines and futuristic prototypes of inspection drones, anticipating our transcontinental connections.
