Biography
Emilio Amideo is a Lecturer in English Language and Linguistics in the Department of Literary, Linguistic and Comparative Studies of the University of Naples “L’Orientale”, where he is also a Teaching Assistant responsible for the university E-learning project for the English language. He holds a PhD (with additional label of “Doctor Europaeus”) in “Literary, Linguistic and Comparative Studies” from the University of Naples “L’Orientale”, with a research on linguistic and sexual fluidity in contemporary black queer narratives in English. He was visiting pre-doctoral fellow both at Northwestern University – Department of African American Studies (USA, 2015) and, through an Erasmus Study+ grant, at Goldsmiths University of London – Department of Media and Communication Studies (UK, 2016). His research interests include: English Language and Translation Studies, Sociolinguistics, Anglophone Literatures, Cultural and Postcolonial Studies, Gender Studies, Black Queer Studies, Critical Race Theory, Black Diaspora Studies, Ecocriticism and Body Studies. He co-edited the volume “The Image in the World, the World in the Image” (2016) and published essays on Isaac Julien, James Baldwin, Thomas Glave, Jackie Kay, Keith Jarrett and Dean Atta.
