PHIR has a longstanding reputation in European studies, and we wish to appoint a colleague with interest and specialism in the dynamic politics of the European Union and in Britain’s changing post-Brexit relations. Interests and expertise in the broader field of comparative politics are also encouraged. The post-holder will have a relevant PhD, and will be expected to offer modules in these areas at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as contributing to team-taught core modules in politics and international relations. The appointment is part of an ongoing investment strategy to strengthen the research profile and impact in PHIR, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the Centre for the Study of International Governance. The Centre provides a University focus for research into a range of topics including the changing nature of global governance, crisis management, migration, EU politics, diplomacy, terrorism, environmental politics, and the new and enduring challenges to existing political institutions and processes.
