Irene Polimante obtained a Master degree in Anglo-American Literature at the University of Macerata in 2016, with a dissertation on two minor American performance poets: Tracie Morris and Edwin Torres.
In November 2017 she won a scholarship for the phd course in Linguistics, Philology and Literary Studies, with a focus on the American Literature, at the University of Macerata. She is also member of the editorial board for the series “Italia, Americhe e altri mondi” of C.I.S.I.A. (centro interdepartmental di studi italo-americani). Her research project concerns the origins and the development of the American sound poetry and its influences on the contemporary poetic panorama. She adopts an interdisciplinary and semiotic perspective to analyze the transcultural issues of this poetic genre and its effects on the theoretical concept of the relationship between form and genre, body and voice, lyricism and mass media communication.
Her main research interests include Comparative Literature, Critical Theory, Interdisciplinary Studies, Visual Studies, Post-colonial Studies and Cultural Studies.
